Tanya Myers

Phyllis, a 25-tear-old teacher still living with her parents after the Great War, breaks away from her empty life when she takes up a position with the family of an acclaimed playwright in London. There she becomes involved with the film industry and ultimately falls for the charming but devious actor Denver Towers.

At the start of WWII 20-year-old Ruth rushed into marriage with Tom Phillips when he was on leave. As time goes by she has no news from Tom, she starts to enjoy the attention of someone else. When the war ends she realises she must battle for her personal freedom and safety.
