Siddalee Walker is a successful playwright but when she gives an interview about her unhappy childhood Vivi, her mother, is furious. To repair the damage Vivi's friends, the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, show Siddallee a scrapbook of their lives together from the day they first met.

Siddalee Walker is back with tales of her upbringing at the hands of Vivi, her bourbon drinking mother, who is also leader of a group of girl friends, the Ya-Ya's. Set in Thornton, Louisiana in the 1950's and 1960's. Contains some offensive language.

In their own way the Ya-Yas teach their children about the mysteries of life and to believe that miracles do happen. A miracle is needed when old grudges and wounded psyches lead to heartbreak and crime. Then the dynamic web of sisterhood is the only safety net strong enough to endure.
