Convalescing at her boarding school, Flora starts to write the story of her life in North Borneo. Gradually she writes about finding an empty house and the tragic wartime events that happened there.

Xanthe and Marpessa are two sisters who work in the royal palaces of the besieged city of Troy. The Goddess, Aphrodite, decides to destroy the bond between the sisters and makes them fall in love with the same warrior, but the sisters like everyone in Troy are living on borrowed time.
