The survival of Golden Valley is threatened, with the animals fighting one another and the magician near death. The children manage to travel back to the magician’s time with the help of the golden pendulum and the final battle draws near.

William, Mary and Alice, staying at Golden House for the Easter holidays, find the Magician waiting to guide them on their Great Task, but everything seems different. Badger baiters and their dogs have arrived in the valley and something must be done to stop them.

Developers want to transform Golden Valley into an amusement park and the village welcomes the jobs it will bring. The children must find the secret that lies behind the waterfall in order to save the valley but they have to overcome the evil Morden, the magician’s assistant.
