The Stevens family are ordinary people, living ordinary lives in 1930's England, making the most of small pleasures and hard-won achievements. They look forward to their holiday in Bognor all year and enjoy it all the more for that. We share their feelings and thoughts - the excitement of the night before, the journey, arrival and the way time flies yet seems to pass so slowly on their holiday.

Mr Baldwin's retirement is something of a disappointment to him. His boredom, his wife’s dismay at the quiet orderliness of her life being destroyed and their growing tension with each other slowly grows, until one day they go for a country walk and discover Weldon Valley. Their lives change forever when they see a house for sale and decide to move there.

Edgar Hopkins watches as the moon veers off course, draws slowly closer to the earth, and finally crashes into it on May 3rd 1946. Because it falls into the Atlantic much of humanity survives, but new disasters unfold. This is not science fiction in the mode of H G Wells's The War of the Worlds; it is a novel about human nature.

Set in World War I, this play opens in the trenches in France and concerns the lives of a group of British officers on the front line and deals with the horror and futility of trench warfare.
