Vienna 1903, and an operatic diva, Ida Rosenkrantz, is found dead in her villa. It appears she has taken an overdose of morphine, but a broken rib suggests other possibilities. DI Oskar Rheinhardt seeks the assistance of his young friend, psychoanalyst Dr Max Liebermann in the investgation.
