Recent events have left District Ranger Anna Pigeon, of Rocky Mountains National Park, drained and haunted. She is on leave with her husband, Paul. But instead of the soothing experience they'd longed for, they find themselves sucked into a labyrinth of intrigue that leads from the Mexican desert to the steps of the Governor's Mansion in Austin, Texas.
