Wedlock tells the story of the wealthy Countess of Strathmore, Mary Eleanor Bowes, and her marriage to Andrew Robinson Stoney. Stoney, who had nothing, pursued her for her wealth. After the marriage he mistreated her, until a servant helped her to escape and she began a high profile divorce case.
