When Germany invaded Poland their bombers devastated Warsaw - and its zoo. Caring for the few surviving animals, zookeepers Jan and Antonia Zabinski started their own war against the Nazis. Not only did they rescue Jews from the Ghetto, but they hid resistance fighters, arms and ammunition in the empty animal cages.
