Palace Walk

First book in 'Cairo Trilogy'. Set in Cairo between the wars, this is the story of Ahmad, a middle-class shopkeeper, who forces his wife and daughters to live a sheltered life, while at night he explores the pleasures of Cairo. To his sons he is a tyrant and they live in fear of his temper.
